Lata Mangeshkar was born on September 28, 1929, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She was the daughter of Pandit Dina Nath Mangeshkar, who was a well-known Marathi drama troupe owner. She was an Indian singer and music composer.ย  She was widely regarded as one of Indiaโ€™s greatest and most influential vocalists. Through her contributions to the Indian music industry over the course of a seven-decade career, she has earned honorific names such as โ€œNightingale of Indiaโ€ and โ€œQueen of Melody.โ€ She was the eldest of the four daughters and one son.ย  Her mother, Shevanti, hailed from Thalner, Maharashtra, and was the second wife of her father.

Lata Mangeshkar recorded her debut Hindi song, โ€œMata Ek Sapoot Ki Duniya Badal De Tu,โ€ for the 1943 Marathi film Gajaabhaau. Later in her career, she collaborated with some of the most prominent names in Hindi music, including Anil Biswas, Shankar Jaikishan, Naushad Ali, and SD Burman.
