Essay on Importance of Good Health

As humans, we are always concerned about our own health and the health of people we care about. We see our health as our most basic and essential asset, regardless of our age, gender, socioeconomic status, or ethnic heritage. Ill health, on the other hand, can prevent us from attending school or job, from attending to our family obligations, or from fully participating in our communityโ€™s activities. By the same token, we are prepared to make numerous sacrifices if it means that we and our family will live longer and healthier lives. In short, when we talk about well-being, we frequently refer to health.

The right to health is an essential part of our human rights and our concept of what it means to live a dignified life. To give it its proper name, the right to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health is not new. It was first stated internationally in the 1946 World Health Organization (WHO) Constitution, whose preamble defines health as โ€œa state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmityโ€. The preamble further states that โ€œthe enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition.โ€

Fitness is essential for good health. Aside from making you feel better mentally, exercise can help protect you from heart disease, stroke, obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure; it can also make you appear younger, raise and maintain bone density, improve the quality of your life, and may keep you from becoming sick. Exercising also helps you reduce stress and might make you feel happier and less worried.

Before you begin an exercise routine, ask your doctor about what exercises you should perform. Then develop a strategy to spend less time watching television and/or using the computer and start exercising more. Your doctor may advise you to start small, such as parking in the farthest corner of your parking lot at work, taking the stairs rather than the elevator, walking your dog, or riding a stationary bike. Adding daily exercise gradually will help you begin to feel better.

It is also essential to eat nutritious meals for excellent health. Changing your eating habits takes paying attention to what and how much you consume. It may be practically hard to find nutritious food from vending machines or cafeterias depending on your place of employment, so youโ€™ll have to be resourceful and devise a sensible eating plan for yourself. Eat more fruits, vegetables, salads, whole-grain breads, and egg whites, as well as dishes that are boiled or grilled rather than fried. Consult your doctor or a dietitian for advice on how to begin eating a healthy, well-balanced diet.
