Connotation

Connotation refers to an implied meaning thatโ€™s associated with a word in addition to its literal meaning.

Example,
โ€œThis clothing is affordable!โ€ versus โ€œThis clothing is cheap!โ€
Here, โ€œaffordableโ€ sounds much better than โ€œcheap,โ€ because the word cheap also implies low quality.
