The Cormorant
Cormorants are large water birds often found near lakes, rivers, and oceans. They have long necks, strong hooked beaks, and dark feathers that sometimes shine with a green or blue tint. These birds are excellent divers and catch fish underwater, using their webbed feet to swim quickly. Unlike many other birds, their feathers are not completely waterproof, so they are often seen sitting with their wings spread out to dry. Cormorants are skilled hunters and play an important role in aquatic ecosystems.
