Discuss To His Coy Mistress as a love poem?

"To His Coy Mistress" is possibly Andrew Marvell's best-known poem. It is a love poem in which he has sexualized love, and the speaker makes a powerful plea to the beloved to soften his mind and relax his rigid attitude of Puritanic unwillingness to give him sexual pleasure. The lover, who may be the poet himself, is building a very strong case and supporting it with claims that no reasonable woman would deny. The poem has thus what is known as a carpe diem theme. (Carpe Diem is a Latin phrase meaning: "seize the opportunity". The full Latin sentence is "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero" which means: "Enjoy the present day, trusting the least possible to the future".In the Puritan era, purity, virginity, maidenhood was the valued most, and the Coy means that the lady is not an easy catch. From the beginning to the end of this poem, the poet shows an image of physical love. Here we see that the poet is lamenting the short life span that is too short to make love. According to the poet, human life is very much fleeting, and the pleasures of love should be thoroughly enjoyed in the transient moment of life. It is for this reason that he offers a clear appeal to his beloved to be softened towards him and to exalt his sexual favour without hesitation.
