Q.1 Why did Reldresal visit Gulliver?

Ans. Redressal visited Gulliver to discuss some important matters of the state. They were facing a threat from Blefuscu and it was thought that Gulliver would be of some help for the empire.

1 โ€“ The first one is inside the country. The argument about wearing high heels or low heels.
2 โ€“ The second problem is outside the country. There would be an attack by enemies from Blefuscu.

Ans. Gulliver welcomed him with honour. Gulliver offered Reldresal to lie down so that he could conveniently speak to him, but he preferred that Gulliver should hold him in his hand.

Ans. Lilliputians were divided into two sections, the Low Heels and the High Heels. The Low Heels used to wear the shoes with low heels and the High Heels used to wear the shoes with high heels. The High Heels were more in number as compared to the Low Heels. The present emperor supported the Low Heels but the prince supported the High Heels.

Q.4 Why was the government in the hands of the Low Heels though they were less numerous than the High Heels?
Ans.Though the Low Heels were less numerous than the High Heels the government was in their hands because the emperor of the state was in favour of the Low Heels.

Ans.The external danger that the country was fearing an invasion from Blefuscu which according to Lilliputians was the other great empire of the universe.

Ans. The external danger that Lilliput had to face was the invasion by a neighbouring empire namely Blefuscu.

Q.6 What was the question of religious principle that gave rise to the war between Lilliput and Blefuscu?
Ans. The religious question was whether one should break an egg at the bigger end or at the smaller end.

OR

Ans. From ancient times, the people of Lilliput had the belief that they should break the egg at the bigger end & this was their religious practice, but when the present emperorโ€™s grandfather happened to cut his finger while breaking the egg at the bigger end, the government put a ban on the practice. Obviously, there were rebellions & during these protests, many people died. Many rebels took refuge in Blefuscu. The Blefuscan emperor supported these rebels & thus became the enemy of Lilliput which gave rise to the war between these two empires.

Q.7 Why was the ancient way of breaking an egg prohibited in Lilliput?
Ans. The ancient way was prohibited because the present emperorโ€˜s grandfather, when he was a boy, had cut one of his fingers when breaking an egg at the bigger end. One emperor lost his life and another his crown and 11000 people suffered death. They preferred death to his honour.

OR

Ans. The ancient method of breaking an egg was to break it at the bigger end but, once in the past, the present emperorโ€™s grandfather happened to cut his finger while breaking the egg in this manner. Thus, his father, i.e., the emperor of that time prohibited this practice.

Ans. There was bitter opposition to the new law, and there were frequent rebellions on account of it.

Ans. Many people protested against the new law. During the rebellions, an emperor was killed & another was dethroned. At least 11,000 people died. Many rebels took refuge in the neighbouring country of Blefuscu.

And. When rivalry started in Lilliput over the so-called religious principle, a lot of people lost their lives while others fled to Blefuscu. The emperor of Blefuscu gave them his sympathy and encouragement, thus interfering in the internal affairs of Lilliput. Blefuscu frequently charged the Lilliputian emperor with causing a division in the religion.

Ans. The Emperor of Blefuscu interfered openly & actively in the internal affairs of Lilliput. He gave support & shelter to the rebels of Lilliput. He frequently blamed the emperor of Lilliput for creating all these disturbances.

Ans. The teaching of their ancient religion about the right way of breaking an egg was that their holy book read โ€œAll believers shall break their egg at the convenient endโ€.

Ans. The teaching of the ancient religion of Lilliputians was mentioned in the 54th chapter of their religious book. It stated that โ€œAll the believers should break the eggs at the convenient endโ€.

Ans. In Reldresal opinion the teaching of the holy book means a person to decide on their own which end would be the convenient one.

Ans. Gulliver promises Reldresal that he would defend the honour of the country and that of the emperor like a soldier.
